EEPS Department Admistrator Lee Willson has received one of Rice’s highest staff honors, The Ruth Parks Award for Distinguished Service.
The Ruth Parks award is conferred on one Wiess School staff member each year in recognition of long-standing and distinguished service to the School, its departments and programs.
This award was first conferred on Ruth Parks in 1999 to recognize the breadth and depth of her more than 35 years of extraordinary service to the School and the deans. An endowment was established in Ruth’s memory to ensure the continuation of this recognition and to award a Wiess School staff member each year.
Lee has worked at Rice for 30 years, starting with what was Geology and Geophysics in 1995. While Lee has held other intervening posts at Rice, including the Rice Design Alliance and Ecology and Evolutionary Biology, she came back to EEPS in 2008 as the Department Administrator. The success of EEPS is made possible by Lee and the staff and infrastructure she has established and managed for almost 20 years.
Congratulations to Lee Willson on this well-deserved honor!
