Diversity, Equity and Inclusion

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in EEPS

The Department of Earth, Environmental, and Planetary Sciences (EEPS) at Rice University is committed to creating a diverse, equitable, and inclusive learning community that values and respects the contributions of every individual. We are dedicated to creating an environment where everyone, regardless of race, ethnicity, gender identity and expression, religion, sexual orientation, socioeconomic background, age, ability, veteran status, or any other dimension of diversity, feels welcomed, supported, and included.

Our pursuit of excellence in research, teaching, and learning is enriched by the diversity of backgrounds, perspectives, and experiences within our community and prepares our students to engage with a global and interconnected discipline and world. In light of the inequitable and inaccessible history of geosciences, we are committed to enacting policies that eliminate barriers to participation and success in our program.

We acknowledge efforts toward DEI in our department will constantly evolve, and we support education, dialogue, and collaboration to continue building a thriving and supportive community in our department.
