In September of 2017, Wanda Pan (B.A. 1977) and her father Poh-Hsi Pan (Ph.D. 1969) approached EEPS with the idea of establishing an endowment for a postdoctoral fellowship and for graduate student support. The fund was established to honor Poh-Hsi Pan’s educational trajectory all the way from Zhejiang University in China to Rice University. The fund will attract top talent, with a particular emphasis on international applicants. This fellowship provides another postdoctoral fellowship in EEPS and will insure that our department remains at the forefront of Earth science research.
