The 2025 Carbon Capture, Utilization and Storage (CCUS) meeting at the George R. Brown Convention Center in Houston connects industry experts, researchers from academia, professional organizations (AAPG, SPE, and SEG) along with students to highlight current and future CCUS efforts.
Over the course of the event, technical presentations, panel discussions, short courses, and social activities are provided to share state-of-the-art knowledge and foster collaboration over a wide range of CCUS themes; from storage, monitoring, modeling and risk assessment, to economics and regulation.
In its fifth year, speakers representing universities, research institutions and industry will drive discussions about the future of the decarbonization of energy through CCUS and the need for skilled geologists, geophysicists and engineers to define the future of the energy transition.
EEPS assistant professor, Sahar Bakhshian is on the Technical Program Committee and will a chair session on Reactive Transport Modeling and present her research about Near-Surface Monitoring CO2 Leakage from Plugged and abandoned Wells.
“With CCUS being a key pillar of decarbonization and energy transition, I would encourage everyone, especially students, interested in playing a role in the future of sustainable energy to attend" says Bakhshian. Among the various program goals there are opportunities for students and early career professionals to interact with academic and industry professionals.
